What the problem was:Boiler problems due to scale in Whitchurch
Customer called to say there was banging noises coming from her boiler and she was due to go away on holiday the following day, and would like to get it working again before she went, as her son was staying at home alone for the first time.

What we did:
This customer had previously signed up to our YourCare plan, and therefore she receives unlimited calls out and repairs, she is also a priority customer, so we attended the property the same day.  The problem was identified immediately as kettling, which is mostly caused by a scale build up on the heat exchanger, or sometimes when the pump is worn out  In this instance it was a build up of scale causing  the problem (the customer was covered for this problem as she had received a power flush in the last five years on her system). Our engineer used Fernox Heavy Duty Restorer and Fernox DS-40 Boiler Descaler as per the manufacturer’s instructions to remove the scale, and stop the banging.

Outcome:
Our customer’s problem with the noise was resolved quickly and without any cost to the customer due to her having the YourCare plan.  The customer could go on holiday without worrying about her boiler.
